Is America exceptional? Yes, it is most certainly exceptional.
For a start its military spending is over 40% of the world’s total (and that is only the officially declared amount with the undeclared amounts adding a lot more). That’s six times more than China and eleven times more than Russia.
All of which explains why the USA is continually at war – apart from an aggressive proclivity inherent in every American government, the huge military-industrial complex has to justify its existence. If you put all the undeclared wars with the declared ones, the USA has been at war every year since – well, 1950 is as good a year as any.
