On International Women’s Day: 20 Palestinian Woman Still Held Captive By Israeli Occupation

As the Palestinian people mark March 8th, International Woman’s Day, the Palestinian Committee on Detainees issued a statement that ‘Israel’ is still holding captive twenty Palestinian women, including one who has been held for eighteen years, and seven who have brothers or husbands who are also imprisoned by ‘Israel’.

The Palestinian Commission of Detainees & Ex-Detainees Affairs has reported that detainee Lina Jarbouni, 40, from ‘Arraba al-Batouf in the Galilee has been held by ‘Israel’ for the thirteenth consecutive year.

She was kidnapped by the occupation soldiers on April 18, 2002, and was sentenced to 17 years for “aiding Palestinian fighters.”

The Detainees’ Committee saluted the Palestinian women for their important role, struggle and sacrifices in the national struggle of their people, seeking liberation from the illegal Israeli occupation of Palestine.
